EXCURSION TO THE CONTRIN REFUGE FROM ALBA DI CANAZEI

A beautiful itinerary starting from Canazei, in Val di Fassa, surrounded by some giants of the Dolomites that exceed 3000 meters, which are part of the Marmolada Group: Gran Vernel, Cima Ombretta, Sasso Vernale and Cima Uomo. In the distance you can also see the wonderful Sassolungo group.

The route doesn’t present particular difficulties, but requires a minimum of training considering the 500 meters of altitude to be faced.

The departure is from Alba di Canazei, following the CAI 602 path which goes uphill into the woods. After almost one hour walking, you will arrive at the characteristic Baita Locia (1732mt), where you can recover your energy.

Continuing the path uphill, you will reach the green pastures of Val Contrin, in an uncontaminated postcard landscape. After passing the Ruf de Contrin stream, the path continues in a constant but not impervious climb which, in about 2 hours, leads to the final destination, the Contrin Refuge, in front of the enchanting South facade of the Marmolada.

After well-deserved refreshment at the refuge, on the way back, you will follow the same route as the outward journey.
